چکیده

This paper demonstrates the application of the linear parameter-varying (LPV) framework to control a copolymerization reactor. An LPVmodel representation is first developed for a nonlinear model of the process. The LPV model complexity in terms of the model order and the number of scheduling variables is then reduced by truncating those system states that have insignificant direct influence on the input-output behavior of the system and do not directly appear in the output equations of the model. It is important to note that these truncated states are still preserved in the reduced model by affecting the scheduling parameters and hence enabling the representation of the input-output map. Using the derived model, a linear fractional transformation (LFT) based LPV controller synthesis approach is used to synthesize a controller for the process. Simulation based studies of the closed-loop behavior of the system regulated by the designed LPV controller demonstrate that the LPV controller solution outperforms a model predicative control designed previously for this system in terms of the achieved control performance and the online computational effort.

An Lmi - Based Constrained Mpc Scheme with Time - Varying Terminal Cost

Modelbased Predictive Control (MPC) is a control technique that is widely used in chemical process industry. In the past decade, stability of MPC has been an intensive research area, resulting in the general acceptance of a theoretical MPC stability framework introducing a terminal cost and terminal constraint to the classic MPC formulation. Although guaranteeing stability, issues regarding opt...

Linear Parameter-Varying versus Linear Time-Invariant Control Design for a Pressurized Water Reactor

The applicability of employing a parameter-dependent control to a nuclear pressurized water reactor is investigated and is compared to that of using an H1 control. A linear time-invariant controller cannot maintain performance over the entire operating range. The parameterdependent synthesis technique produces a controller which achieves speci ed performance against the worst-case time variatio...

Control of Time-Varying Distributed Parameter Plug Flow Reactor by LQR

The linear quadratic (LQ) optimal control problem is studied for a partial differential equation model of a time-varying plug flow tubular reactor. First some properties of the linearized model around a specific equilibrium profile are studied. Next, an LQ-control feedback is computed by using the corresponding operator Riccati differential equation, whose solution can be obtained via a related...

Robust Fuzzy Gain-Scheduled Control of the 3-Phase IPMSM

This article presents a fuzzy robust Mixed - Sensitivity Gain - Scheduled H controller based on the Loop -Shaping methodology for a class of MIMO uncertain nonlinear Time - Varying systems. In order to design this controller, the nonlinear parameter - dependent plant is first modeled as a set of linear subsystems by Takagi and Sugeno’s (T - S) fuzzy approach. Both Loop - Shaping methodology and...
